Audio actually included
Reddit hosts video and audio as two separate DASH streams, which is why saving directly from v.redd.it gives you a silent file. We fetch both and mux them into one MP4.

The split-stream problem, explained
Reddit adopted DASH so playback can switch resolution mid-stream. The side effect is that a post's video and audio are two independent files, referenced by a manifest.
Any tool that hands you a v.redd.it URL directly is handing you one half. The correct fix is to read the manifest, fetch both representations and mux them — which is what happens here before you get the file.
Frequently asked questions
Why do Reddit videos download without sound elsewhere?
Because v.redd.it serves DASH with video and audio in separate files. Grabbing the video URL alone gets you a silent file. We download both parts and combine them.
Do old.reddit.com links work?
Yes, along with www.reddit.com, redd.it and direct v.redd.it URLs.
Can I download from a private subreddit?
No. Private and quarantined subreddits require an authenticated session.
What about GIFs posted to Reddit?
Most Reddit 'GIFs' are MP4 loops and download as MP4. Use our GIF converter if you need the GIF format itself.
